Everything you need to scan websites for PII, integrate APIs, and generate compliance reports

The piisafe.eu documentation is a set of short reference guides for the website PII scanner. A PII scan is an automated check for personal data that a website publishes to anyone who visits it. Personal data is defined as any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, in Article 4(1) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 — the GDPR, which has applied across the EU since 25 May 2018.

Four limits apply to every scan and are worth knowing before you read further: at most 1,000 pages per scan, at most 50,000 characters per call to the detection API, 20 new scans per hour from one IP address, and no scan content written to disk at any point. Finished sessions leave server memory 35 minutes after a scan ends.
